2005 marked the 60th anniversary of VP day and the RAM released a circulation one dollar coin depicting "Peace" and the image of the iconic dancing man. In a media release the RAM said the gentleman depicted was one Ern Hill, a retired electrician but there is much conjecture over this. There is more evidence that it is in fact Frank McAlary QC.
The Australian CPI was 83 in the year 2005 and 119.7 in 2022: 119.7 83. ×. $1. =. $1.44. $1 in 2005 has the same "purchasing power" or "buying power" as $1.44 in 2022. To get the total inflation rate for the 17 years between 2005 and 2022, we use the following formula: CPI in 2022 - CPI in 2005 CPI in 2005.
The inflation rate in Australia between 1950 and 2021 was 2,629.72%, which translates into a total increase of $2,629.72. This means that 100 dollars in 1950 are equivalent to 2,729.72 dollars in 2021. In other words, the purchasing power of $100 in 1950 equals $2,729.72 in 2021.
